A group calling itself Protect Rural Ireland has called on the Government to suspend the development of wind farms and all planning applications for wind farms until new guidelines are introduced.
They intend to undertake a national campaign to unseat TDs who support the construction of wind farms and pylons.
They claim to place the protection of Ireland’s landscape, environment and people centre stage and seek to protect tourism, agriculture and equine industries. They are financed by voluntary contributions from approximately 20 local communities.
